How it works
About the business immigration
The cleanest route into New Brunswick from abroad, because it does not depend on being invited to a government recruitment mission. Two different ownership percentages apply and they are easy to confuse. The business you set up in New Brunswick needs at least 33.3 per cent equity control from you. The 51 per cent figure belongs to a separate test about the business you ran before, and only applies if you qualify as an owner rather than as a senior manager.
Applying from outside Canada: Open from abroad. Read the province's own Business Immigration Stream guide rather than a summary: the two ownership percentages sit in different sections of it, one under investment and one under the points grid for business ownership and work experience.

Requirements
What this stream asks for
- Net worth of at least $500,000, or $300,000 for agriculture
- An eligible investment of at least $150,000 before tax, excluding purchases for personal use such as a home or a car
- Control of at least 33.3 per cent of the equity in the New Brunswick business

- Two years of qualifying experience in the last five, either owning at least 51 per cent of a private company or serving as a senior manager in a for-profit business, in both cases managing daily operations and supervising at least two employees
- Aged between 19 and 59, with language at CLB 4
- At least 65 points on the selection grid
Programme
The New Brunswick programme right now
Open but heavily restricted. Since 4 May 2026 the province's main experience pathway has invited only health care, education and construction occupations, and New Brunswick says plainly this is because the allocation is running low. It also paused new employer designations under the Atlantic Immigration Program in February 2026.
The Critical Worker Pilot exists but takes no direct applications and serves six named employers. The Private Career College Graduate Pilot runs to the end of 2027 but only for students already registered. The old Entrepreneurial stream has been replaced by Business Immigration, and the in-person exploratory visit connection was paused in November 2024 and is not returning.
