How it works
About the express entry skilled worker
Carries the 600-point nomination boost. The province's newer policy page confirms a job validation or labour market impact assessment satisfies the requirement, so you do not need to hold a Canadian work permit already.
Applying from outside Canada: Open from abroad. An older summary page suggests Canadian work authorisation is needed; the newer policy page of April 2026 governs and does not require it.

Requirements
What this stream asks for
- Acceptance into the federal Express Entry pool
- A job offer in TEER 0 to 3
- At least 67 points on the provincial grid
- A Canadian post-secondary credential, or a foreign one that has been assessed
Programme
The Newfoundland and Labrador programme right now
Open and inviting regularly, with the most recent round on 10 September 2026. The province moved to an expression of interest model in February 2025 after demand outstripped the spaces available.
Priority Skills NL no longer appears among the province's current pathways, though no formal closure was announced. Selection is discretionary rather than scored: meeting the criteria does not guarantee an invitation, and the province notes that applications tied to the St John's area may be given lower priority where a route is already heavily used.
