How it works
About the business investor: farm investor pathway
You must live on the farm and run it yourself. Passive investment and hiring a third-party manager are both expressly excluded. This pathway sits inside the Business Investor Stream, so the same pause applies: Manitoba is not currently conducting expression of interest draws for that stream, but says it reviews every submission within four weeks and issues either a Letter of Advice to Apply or a feedback letter.
Applying from outside Canada: Open from abroad, but the research visit is mandatory and the interview is conducted in English or French.

Requirements
What this stream asks for
- Three years of documented farm ownership and operating experience
- Net worth of at least $500,000
- An investment of at least $300,000 in eligible tangible farm assets
- A compulsory farm business research visit to Manitoba
- Living on the farm and actively managing it, with genuine primary production and a value-added activity
Programme
The Manitoba programme right now
Open and drawing roughly monthly for the worker streams, with the most recent round on 10 September 2026. The Business Investor Stream is the exception: Manitoba states on its draws page that expression of interest draws for that stream are not currently being conducted, although it still accepts and assesses business expressions of interest. The Career Employment Pathway for Manitoba graduates is being wound down: in June 2026 the province invited its candidates to move across to the Skilled Worker in Manitoba pathway, and no draw has selected that pathway since. Manitoba has not used the word closed, and its criteria page is still published.
Manitoba excludes several groups from every pathway: refugee claimants, live-in caregivers in Canada, temporary workers living in another province, spouses of Canadian citizens and permanent residents, and anyone with an active application to another provincial or federal programme. Holding an Express Entry profile does not count as an application.
